The James D. Durante Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial support to nursing students pursuing careers in long term care. It provides for multiple $1,000 scholarships annually for individuals entering or completing an accredited program to obtain Registered Nurse licensure or a Registered Nurse student pursing an advanced degree in nursing or advanced nursing practice licensure.  The Foundation for Quality Care, a subsidiary corporation of the New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA), administers the James D. Durante Nurse Scholarship Fund Program.

 

The Foundation for Quality Care awards the James D. Durante Scholarships at the Annual NYSHFA convention each year in June. Applications can be submitted to the Foundation from September of each year until early February.  Recipients are chosen  by NYSHFA’s Clinical and Quality Services Committee.
